DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT
The Design Technology Curriculum is dynamic and constantly changing. The subject responds to the environment and the wants and needs of others.
The new curriculum at St Martins is exciting up to date and taught using a variety of modern teaching styles, to enthuse and capture the imagination of students.
The key stage three curriculums at St Martins cover a wide range of topics taught through both practical and theory lessons. Within these topics is a mixture of opportunities looking at environmental issues, technical related support and industrial linked practices.
A variety of opportunities include Global fashion, Cultural foods, Resistant Materials and graphics are well supported by a variety of up to date soft wear.
Students feedback is constantly monitored. The message from the students is that the subject is relevant to their environment and life, allowing them to experience and retain valuable life skills for the future.
As a result of feedback the Department continues to look for new opportunities to reinvigorate the curriculum. The department plan to introduce health and hygiene certificates and plan industrial and educational visits.
