TRANSPORT
School Bus
The Local Authority is responsible for the transport of students to and from the school. The LA may provide students with a Bus Permit for certain buses; if this is mislaid during the year, parents are responsible for obtaining a replacement from County Hall. The Local Authority has issued guidelines for student behaviour on school transport and has the power to confiscate passes/ban students if behaviour is unacceptable.
Walking to School
As a “Healthy School” we encourage local students to walk to school where possible. Students are expected to behave in a responsible way and to observe road safety rules at all times.
Cycling to School
A small number of students became very responsible cyclists last year – parents must request a cycling permit from school before allowing their student to cycle.
By Car
With the increasing numbers of students transported to school by car, we would urge parents to consider sharing lifts whenever possible. Parents must use the ‘hard play area’, to the right hand side as they enter the school premises, and park in an orderly way that is considerate to other drivers.
A footpath, from the hard play area, is provided for students’ safety. They must not cross the staff car park.
If parents were able to slightly delay their arrival, at the end of the day, this would ease congestion and improve student safety.
(NB: The staff car-park is not to be used for dropping off or collecting students.)
